A closer look.

Band widths

Width is measured across the top of the band, in millimeters (mm). The ranges below are common points of reference rather than fixed categories.

All widths in millimeters (mm). 1 mm ≈ 0.04 in.

Delicate 1.5–2 mm
Fine and understated. Often stacked or worn alongside an engagement ring.
Classic 2–3 mm
A slim everyday width that balances presence with comfort.
Medium 4–5 mm
Noticeably more visible, with room for detail such as pavé or a textured finish.
Substantial 6–8 mm
A bold, wide profile. Widths in this range are frequently chosen for men’s bands.

Good to know

  • Wider bands cover more of the finger and can feel snugger than a narrow band in the same ring size.
  • “Comfort fit” bands are rounded on the inside and can feel easier to slide on than “standard fit” bands, which are flat inside.
  • For the most reliable fit, confirm your size in the width you plan to wear with a jeweler or a ring sizer.
